Confirm that your system meets the requirements. If you have VMM 2012 R2 and your target is VMM 2016, see the Supported OS and Servers section of the Specifying the correct system requirements for a real-world scenario recipe in Chapter 1, VMM 2016 Architecture.
If you have two or more upgrades in a row, check the requirements for each VMM before going to the next upgrade:
