High availability
When designing high availability, there are further considerations that you need to take into account. If public access is required, we would start by creating at least two public subnets in two different availability zones. This will allow us to spin up instances in two fault-isolated environments. The same approach would be used for private subnets – we would create at least two private subnets within two different availability zones. With private subnets, the high availability of your NAT gateway, NAT instance, or egress-only gateways should also be considered.
